Sami Mountainjoi, a poor boy of unknown father, manages to become a great painter and see his works in the Tate Gallery.
The whirlwind of World War II swept him away and he was taken prisoner in a Nazi camp, where he was first threatened with torture and then locked in a dark cell.
When he comes out of his cell like Lazarus from the tomb, he sees the vastness in a grain of sand and eternity in an hour.
His martyrdom transforms him and he begins to reconsider his life and the choices that made him what he is.
